Exploring Biophony

This week I will participate in an artistic-scientific exhibition during the VBC-PHD-Symposium 2024 with my project "Biophony": collaborating with the Visual Artist Mehrta Shirzadian, we will present a performance installation, using Symbioware technology to artistically transform biodata from plants and humans into sound and visuals.

"Biophony" is a reminder of the often-overlooked beings living alongside us and the ways we can interact with them. Using Symbioware technology, a portable system for expanding human perception in relation to other living beings, this work records and processes the biodata of plants. The device measures their electrical impulses, similar to an EEG, and converts them into MIDI data. In Biophony, these signals are translated into sound and visuals, allowing plants to "speak" to us, inviting us into a sensory dialogue.

By integrating our own body into this circuit, we become part of a shared bio-electrical exchange, forging a direct, transformative connection with the natural world.
